Safeguarding Policy

A Safe and Supportive Environment

The wellbeing, safety and happiness of every student is our highest priority.

We are committed to providing a secure, caring and supportive environment where young people can learn, develop confidence and enjoy their experience. Every member of our team shares responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children and teenagers in our care.

Our safeguarding procedures are regularly reviewed and designed to meet current UK safeguarding requirements and best practice.

We believe that every child has the right to:

  • Feel safe, respected and valued
  • Be treated fairly and without discrimination
  • Learn and develop in a positive environment
  • Be listened to and taken seriously
  • Receive support whenever they need it

We welcome students from a wide range of countries, cultures and backgrounds and celebrate the diversity of our international community. Every student should feel included, respected and able to be themselves throughout their stay.

All staff working with students receive safeguarding training and understand their responsibilities for keeping children safe.

Our designated safeguarding team provides leadership and support throughout each course. Staff are trained to recognise concerns, respond appropriately and seek further support whenever necessary.

Appropriate recruitment procedures and suitability checks are carried out for all adults working with students.

Pastoral Care and Student Welfare

Our pastoral team supports students from arrival to departure.

Whether a student is feeling homesick, worried, unwell or simply needs someone to talk to, there is always a member of staff available to help. We encourage students to speak openly about any concerns and ensure they know who they can approach for support.

We believe that students learn best when they feel safe, happy and cared for.

Respect and Inclusion

We expect all members of our community to treat one another with kindness, respect and consideration.

Bullying, discrimination, harassment and inappropriate behaviour are not tolerated. We actively encourage positive relationships, good communication and mutual respect between students and staff at all times.

Creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome is an important part of student wellbeing.

Helping young people stay safe online is an important part of our safeguarding approach.

Students are encouraged to use technology responsibly and respectfully, both during lessons and in their free time. Staff remain vigilant to any concerns relating to online behaviour, social media and digital wellbeing.

Health and Wellbeing

Safeguarding is closely linked to wellbeing.

A balanced programme of learning, sport, social activities and relaxation helps students maintain positive physical, emotional and mental wellbeing. We aim to create an environment where young people can develop resilience, independence and self-confidence while enjoying new experiences and friendships.

Reporting Concerns

Any safeguarding concern is taken seriously and handled promptly, professionally and confidentially.

Students, parents and staff are encouraged to raise concerns at any time. Clear procedures are in place to ensure that appropriate action is taken whenever required.

Working Together

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. By working together with students, parents, staff and partner organisations, we create an environment where young people feel secure, supported and able to make the most of their time with us.

Our aim is simple: to provide a safe, nurturing and enjoyable experience where every student can learn, grow and thrive.
