British Buddies Programme

Summer Holiday Activity Camp for Teenagers - British Buddies
What is British Buddy?

For international students at a summer school to have a British student who they can talk to, exchange ideas with, make a friend of and simply live together with is a dream that CLAC makes come true.

British students attending the courses each summer enhance the international atmosphere and create the opportunity for natural language exchange.

They join in classes, activities, meal times and excursions, share bedrooms and are part of every student’s experience and memories. Many of our international students make such good friends with the British Buddies that they keep in contact long after the courses have finished, visit each other and often stay lifelong friends.

Speaking practice in English improves fluency, pronunciation and confidence and the British Buddies know that their role is to ensure CLAC international students get as much practice as possible.

British Buddies are carefully selected for their friendly, lively personalities so that they become a friend to all, encourage international friendship groups and create a genuine reason for all the students to communicate together in English.

A Typical Day at CLAC

CLAC days start with a meeting which everyone attends to find out exactly what is happening throughout that day and also other plans for the week. After their meeting students go to their English classes. Students can meet up with their friends at break time after their first classs and then there are two shorter skills classes before lunch.

In the afternoon students choose from the many activities including arts, sports, games and local trips on offer. These are displayed on the Social Programme and students sign up for their chosen actitivies.

In the evening is when the big events happen, famous CLAC games such as the Scary Walk, Cluedo, parties, campfires and other activities that involve the whole course. Everyone is included.

Students can decide between different sports, art based activities, and trips to local attractions.  The programme is designed to appeal to different personalities and to not only interest, but also include everyone.

Each evening the Social Team arranges group challenges and tournaments, as well as CLAC quiz nights, discos and parties to entertain and involve all of the Slindon students.
