The programme of social activities at both schoolsprovides an opportunity for students to relax, practise their English and have fun. Every afternoon after classes students have the independence to choose what they would like to take part in.
Students can decide between a huge variety of sports, art based activities, and trips to local attractions. Due to great locations of both of our centers there are plenty of activities to choose from such as trampolining, historic walks, go-karting, visits to the theatre, cinema and much more.
Once a week there is a full day excursion. Typically, students visit London, Cambridge, Oxford, Brighton, or Portsmouth. This full day outing allows students to experience the magic of some of the major cities in the UK.
Students can choose between sightseeing activities and specific visits for example going on the London Eye, or visiting an impressive museum, there is always some time for shopping for souvenirs too! Some of these activities may have a charge but there will always be a free activity available at the same time.
Students choose a supervised activity in the morning such as a sightseeing tour or visit to a museum or place of interest. In the afternoon supervised free time is given for shopping or more sightseeing as students wish. A free packed lunch is provided.
CLAC also offers a variety of sporting, cultural and leisure excursions for a minimal extra charge. Popular examples include: Sightseeing, Shopping trips to nearby towns, Cinema, Theatre, Paintballing.
Through this experience, students are able to develop courage as they take risks, strength while displaying finesse, competitive intensity while exhibiting generosity of spirit, and mental as well as physical endurance. While the focus is to facilitate the development of each student’s athletic potential, the greater hope is to instill motivation to continue lifelong physical activity.

The on-site sports programme typically includes a selection of: Cricket, Swimming, Tennis, Badminton, Volleyball, Football, Rounders, Basketball, Aerobics. All of these activities are included in the course fees whenever they are part of the social programme.
For certain sports, students may need to be taken off-site to use the facilities in the local area. These will be charged to students at cost price. Examples include: Horse Riding, Indoor Swimming, 10 Pin Bowling. Whenever paying activities are offered, there is always a non-paying alternative.

The aim is to provide a varied programme that will suit all tastes. Whatever a student’s interests, there will always be something to do! The Social Team for each course organises a wide a range of free on-site activities that is available to all students.
A typical social programme includes as many as possible of the following: Team Games, Arts and Crafts, Quizzes, Cookery, Village Walks, Beauty Therapy, Treasure Hunts, Movie and Popcorn Evenings, Drama Activities. CLAC also offers a range of off-site optional activities which are available for an additional charge (cost price).

CLAC days start with a meeting which everyone attends to find out exactly what is happening throughout that day and also other plans for the week. After their meeting students go to their English classes. Students can meet up with their friends at break time after their first classs and then there are two shorter skills classes before lunch.
In the afternoon students choose from the many activities including arts, sports, games and local trips on offer. These are displayed on the Social Programme and students sign up for their chosen actitivies.
In the evening is when the big events happen, famous CLAC games such as the Scary Walk, Cluedo, parties, campfires and other activities that involve the whole course. Everyone is included.

7:30
Every morning, students are woken up by CLAC staff – so the day immediately starts with a gentle burst of English…

8:30-9:15
Breakfast is a firm favourite with all CLAC students – a choice of cereals, porridge, warm croissants, cold meats, eggs, cheese, fruit, toast, spreads and sometimes cooked breakfast – no wonder it’s popular!

9:15-9:30
Students gather daily in the main hall for their Morning Meeting led by the Director and the Social Organisers – all in English! It is an informative yet fun event with a run-through of the exciting programme for the day ahead and the highlight for everyone – an energized singing of the CLAC ‘jingle’.

9:30-13:00
This is the main grammar lesson of the day. Students meet with their Group Teacher and are taught using a combination of a course book and the teacher’s own resources. Each group will have a plan of the grammar to be taught each week displayed in their classroom.

13:00
Lunch is a lively event in the dining room with friends and CLAC staff. There are always two choices of hot food – one vegetarian – and a varied salad bar selection with fresh fruit and dessert to end the meal.

13:45 - 15:00
This timetabled English+ lesson is special to CLAC. Students can choose a specialised topic of interest to study in more depth. The idea behind these classes is that when students are involved through interest they are able to learn and assimilate more and forget that they are actually learning and practising their English. The English+ choices are made during the application process.

15:15-17:30
After the English+ and in the afternoons, students are given a choice of activities they can particapate in which include swimming, indoor or outdoor sports, arts and crafts. These activities are run and organised by the CLAC Social Team. During our second part of afternoon activities, students can either continue their chosen sports stay at the swimming pool or simply go on a short supervised tour of local museums and attractions.

18:00
Dinner is another favourite with all students – a choice of hot meal, salad bar selection, cheese, fresh fruit and desserts. Another opportunity to gather together and chat informally in English with friends and staff.

18:30-21:00
After dinner, students are given a choice of activities they can particapate in which include indoor or outdoor sports, arts and crafts. These activities are run and organised by the CLAC Social Team.
CLAC wouldn’t be CLAC without its much awaited evening activities – Capture the Flag, the Bottle Game, Karaoke, Casino Night, Live Cluedo, the Mystery Walk – all great favourites.

21:15
Staff on duty will prepare hot drinks and biscuits for the students every night and before bedtime. This is a perfect time for students to relax and chat to their friends.
After a day filled with learning, fun and activities, staff on duty will send students up to their bedrooms to get ready for sleep. Lights Out (depending on age).
