Summer English Course for 11- 17 Year Olds at Old Buckenham Hall

Our course at Old Buckenham Hall is a language immersion experience with 100 hours of English each week, ultimate all Inclusive core programme, outstanding welfare and British students for natural language exchange.

Old Buckenham Hall School (commonly known as OBH) is a boarding school during the year but has opened its doors to welcome CLAC for 2023. Set in 80 acres of beautiful parkland in the village of Brettenham, just over an hour from Cambridge, it is perfect new home for CLAC.

The homely atmosphere of its beautiful historic building with its excellent accommodation and impressive sports and recreation facilities, including a 9 hole golf course, will offer CLAC students the summer experience of a lifetime that they expect from our courses.

Small classes (maximum 14 students), attentive supervision from a high ratio of staff to students (minimum 1:4), and personalised care from our onsite Housemother give our students the highest levels of care and parents the peace of mind knowing their children are safe and well looked after.

The CLAC experience focuses on friendship and with over 20 nationalities students are able to make friends from all around the world. They are encouraged to socialise through an interactive activity programme organised specifically to enhance their language practice whilst allowing them to make their own choices on what to enjoy from the activities, sports, trips and social experiences available.

A typical day at Old Buckenham Hall

CLAC days start with a meeting, which everyone attends to learn about the day’s programme ahead and news of upcoming events. The meeting is followed by timetabled English classes until lunchtime, with a short break mid-morning for a drink, snack and catching up with friends.  After lunch, the timetabled programme continues until 3pm with specialist workshops such as filmmaking, photography, yoga, drama, cookery and more.

After workshops, the social programme starts when students can choose from a variety of activities including arts, sports, games and local trips. These are displayed on the Social Programme noticeboard and students sign up for their chosen activities.

Evenings are for big events, famous CLAC games such as the Scary Walk, Cluedo, parties, campfires and other activities that involve the whole course. Everyone is included.
